How to update Bioses in Windows

This article will guide you on how to update the Bioses in the Windows operating system. Based on the processor architecture of your device (x86/x64 or ARM), it provides corresponding operating methods and detailed steps to assist you in completing the Bioses upgrade through MyASUS or the ASUS official website.

Note: After updating the Bioses, you may be prompted to enter the BitLocker recovery key to unlock and access the operating system. For detailed steps, please refer to this article: How to Find the BitLocker Key. You can also disable Device Encryption and Standard BitLocker Encryption before updating the Bioses, and then re-enable encryption after the Bioses update to protect your data security. Note: The following update method is exclusively applicable to devices with x86/x64 architecture. For devices with ARM architecture (such as the Qualcomm® CPU platform), please Click Here to learn How to update the Bioses for ARM-based devices.

Note: How to determine the architecture of your device

Navigate to Windows Settings > System > About. Here, you can view the architecture of your device under System type. (The image on the left shows an x64 architecture; the image on the right shows an ARM architecture.)

You can download and update the Bioses from MyASUS or the official ASUS website. Please refer to the following steps for each method:

Note: If you encounter any issues during the Bioses update process, please contact ASUS service center.

Method 1: Update Bioses via MyASUS
  1. Type and search [MyASUS] in the Windows search bar, then click [Open]. (The left-side search illustration below is in Windows 11, and the right-side is Windows 10.) 
    Note: If there is no result searched, it means your device may not install it, and please refer to How to install MyASUS
  2. In the MyASUS window, click [System Update]
    Note: If your device does not display the System Update tab, it means your device does not support this feature. You can use Method 2: Download and update Bioses via the ASUS support site. Learn more about Why can I only see the partial features in the MyASUS app
  3. When entering the System Update page, MyASUS will automatically check and list the items that need updating for your system. 
    Note: If no update items are displayed on this page, it means your system is already up to date. 
  4. Select [Bioses Update for Windows or Bioses Installer for Windows], then click [Update Selected Items]
    Note: If you do not see 「Bioses Update for Windows」 or 「Bioses Installer for Windows」, since some models may not support updating Bioses in Windows, please refer to How to use EZ Flash to update Bioses
  5. Review the Bioses update details, then click [Confirm] to start downloading the Bioses file. 
  6. MyASUS will begin downloading the Bioses file. 
  7. After the Bioses file download is complete, click [Restart]to initiate the Bioses update. 
  8. The device will restart and enter the Bioses update screen. Please refer to your Bioses interface for the subsequent steps: 
    Note: The Bioses update screen below may vary slightly depending on the model.
UEFI interface
  1. Click [Yes]to begin the Bioses update. 
    Note: Ensure that the device is connected to power and do not force shutdown during the Bioses update to prevent any abnormal issues. 
  2. The device is now performing the Bioses update. Please wait patiently for the Bioses update to complete. 
  3. Once the following screen appears, it indicates that your device has completed the Bioses update. Click [Ok], and the device will restart into the Windows operating system. 

 

MyASUS in UEFI
  1. Click [Confirm]to begin the Bioses update. 
    Note: Ensure that the device is connected to power and do not force shutdown during the Bioses update to prevent any abnormal issues. 
  2. The device is now performing the Bioses update. Please wait patiently for the Bioses update to complete. 
  3. Once the following screen appears, it indicates that your device has completed the Bioses update. Click [Confirm], and the device will restart into the Windows operating system. 

 

2025 UX
  1. When the following screen appears, it indicates that the Bioses is being updated.  
    Note: Your device may receive a system notification that automatically initiates the Bioses update and displays the screen below, eliminating the need to perform the previous steps manually. During the Bioses update process, please ensure that the device is connected to a power source and do not force a shutdown to avoid any potential issues. 
     
    Note: If the following prompt appears, the device must have a battery level above 20% and be connected to a power source in order to proceed with the Bioses update. Once the battery level exceeds 20% while connected to the charger, the Bioses update will begin automatically. 
  2. The device is currently updating the Bioses. Please wait patiently until the update is complete. 
  3. When the following screen appears, it indicates that the Bioses update has been successfully completed. The device will restart several times and then boot into the Windows operating system. 

 

 

Method 2: Download and update Bioses via the ASUS support site
  1. Go to the ASUS support site with your device's model name, here you can learn more about How to search and download Bioses
    Note: To download the corresponding Bioses file, please refer to How to check the model name.
  2. In the support page, please search for [Bioses Update for Windows or Bioses Installer for Windows] which is located in the Bioses Update(Windows) category. If you are able to see the file, please click [Download]
    Note: If you do not see 「Bioses Update for Windows」 or 「Bioses Installer for Windows」, since some models may not support updating Bioses in Windows, please refer to How to use EZ Flash to update Bioses

  3. After downloading the Bioses Update for Windows file, double-click the Bioses Update application to start updating Bioses
    If the type of the downloaded file is Compressed (Zipped), please right-click the file > select Extract All. 
  4. The setup wizard will guide you to start the Bioses update process, click [Next]
  5. Please read the License Agreement, and check the box to [I accept the agreement]and then select [Next]
  6. Follow the indicator to process the Bioses update installation. 
     
     
  7. Select [Yes, restart the computer now], then click [Finish]. The device will restart and enter the Bioses update screen. 
    Note: Before restarting the device, please ensure to save your work to prevent any data loss. 
  8. The device will restart and enter the Bioses update screen. Please refer to your Bioses interface for the subsequent steps:

How to update the Bioses with ARM-based devices

You can download and update the Bioses from MyASUS or the official ASUS website. Please refer to the following steps for each method:

  1. Type and search [MyASUS] in the Windows search bar, then click [Open]
    Note: If there is no result searched, it means your device may not install it, and please refer to How to install MyASUS
  2. In the MyASUS window, click [System Update]
  3. When entering the System Update page, MyASUS will automatically check and list the items that need updating for your system. 
    Note: If no update items are displayed on this page, it means your system is already up to date.
  4. Select [BSP] package, then click [Update Selected Items]
    Note: This package includes Bioses, System, Multimedia, Peripherals and Connectivity drivers. Utilizing this package will update both the Bioses and drivers to the latest versions. 
  5. MyASUS will begin downloading the BSP package file. 
  6. After the BSP package file download is complete, click [Restart]to initiate the update. 
  7. The device will restart and enter the Bioses update screen. Please refer to your Bioses interface for the subsequent steps:

MyASUS in UEFI
  1. The device is currently undergoing an update. 
    Note: Ensure that the device is connected to power and do not force shutdown during the update to prevent any abnormal issues. 
  2. Upon completion of the update, the device will automatically reboot into the Windows operating system.

  2. After accessing the product support download page, locate the latest version of the Board Support Packageunder the Driver Package category, and then click [Download]
    Note: This package includes Bioses, System, Multimedia, Peripherals and Connectivity drivers. Utilizing this package will update both the Bioses and drivers to the latest versions. 
  3. After downloading, double-click the file you just downloaded to begin the BSP update process
  4. If a User Account Control window appears, click [Yes]
  5. Choose the language you want to use in the installation program, then click [OK]
  6. The setup wizard will guide you to start the BSP update process, click [Next]
  7. Please read the License Agreement, and check the box to [I accept the agreement]and then select [Next]
  8. Follow the indicator to process the BSP update installation. 
     
     
  9. Select [Yes, restart the computer now], then click [Finish]. The device will restart and enter the update screen.
